Tap water dispensers in the offices
In March 2020, a total of 27 water dispensers were installed in all our venues, both in the offices and in the backstage areas. They are connected to the main water supply and provide our employees with cold, sparkling and hot water. This immediately resulted in a significant decrease in PET bottle consumption, and the energy-wasting kettles could go straight to the recycling shop.
Urinals
All our urinals are systematically equipped with automatic and water-saving flushing systems.
Organic cleaning products
Currently, we use ecological cleaning products in the offices and toilets. We are also investigating whether it is possible to clean our venues with biological cleaning products. This requires some extra attention since the venues collect more dirt and need more intensive cleaning.
Rebuilding the parking lot of Forest National
The parking lot behind the concert hall needs to be redesigned. We are currently working out a design with specific attention to water infiltration and collection. No more concrete paving, but a water-permeable and green construction!
Sharing experiences within Live Nation
Within Live Nation, monthly meetings take place with those responsible for sustainable initiatives. The aim is to learn from each other and to share standards. We also look at ways to influence and stimulate our partners to adopt a more responsible sustainability policy.
Weareforest.be
With the weareforest.be website, Forest National is strengthening its ties with its immediate neighbours and the people of Forest in general. The starting point is the need for interaction between our concert venue and its neighbours. Neighbourhood work, mobility and sustainability are discussed in detail.
Forest National aims to integrate sustainability into the experience of its visitors. But it also wants to contribute to the quality of life and well-being of everyone in the area. The concert hall is an important socio-economic engine for the municipality, the shopkeepers and the local community and wants to fulfil this role responsibly.
Customers and suppliers
Our green rider is an initiative which aims to draw attention to sustainability among our promoters. Be•at explains its own initiatives, but also explicitly asks its partners to think about their own contribution. Sustainable events will only be possible if all actors join forces: artists, organisers, venue operators and visitors.
We also regularly participate in conferences on sustainability, as speakers as well as in the role of audience, and we do not hesitate to involve partners wherever we find it useful to achieve our sustainability objectives (e.g. NMBS, De Lijn, etc.).
Be•at is actively working on initiatives to reduce the amount of food that is thrown away as much as possible. Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen, for example, works with Bert & Co, a caterer that distributes its surplus food to disadvantaged people. Renewi’s Swill system for food waste is used in all our venues. We also ask our food suppliers about the origin of their products, now that we want to focus even more on local products.
Drukkerij Bulckens
Our printed matter is outsourced to printing company Zwart op Wit, which is very committed to sustainable printed material. Since 2016, the company has been 100% carbon neutral, using green energy, vegetal inks and recycled paper as standard.
Every year, be•at facilitates more than 750 concerts, shows and performances in its 4 arenas and 3 theatres in Belgium. You name it, it can be done in our venues: product presentations, congresses, press conferences, company parties, team-building events, trade fairs, consumer fairs, concerts and parties. Thanks to our unlimited possibilities, we can easily facilitate any event in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent or Hasselt.
